MELGES 14 CLASS PREPS FOR MIDWINTERS

The Melges 14 Class has descended on Sarasota, Florida for the third annual Midwinter Championship March 6-8. With reliable winds and warm water, there’s a mix of two dozen youth and adults heading out to the starting line. The championship serves as the 2020 World League kickoff and is being held in conjunction with the Sarasota Bay Cup.

The weekend forecast calls for a cold front bearing down on Long Boat Key overnight Thursday driving temperatures down to 47 degrees. With the front comes the wind; forecasted in the high teens and gusts up to 30 knots. The gusts are expected to taper off, leaving a consistent northeast wind in its wake for three great days of racing.

Sarasota Sailing Squadron is rolling out the red carpet for the Melges 14s with post-racing social events and a Melges party on Saturday night. Follow the action on the Melges Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well as melges14.com.
